ALL DOLLED UP

​There was quite a reaction when these portraits were shown at the 2006 Altered Barbie Show. The morphed faces were disquieting for some, amusing for others. These dolls explore the perception of beauty from an Asian perspective. Some of us wish we were born with large Bambi eyes, pointed noses, yellow hair and narrow lips. With plastic surgery, makeup and dye, we can do this now, become our favorite anime heroine. Still, we are disappointed that people look at us and wonder why we've transformed ourselves into such weird creatures.
